Away in Aosta!

A long weekend beckoned us towards the northwest mountain region of Italy and we couldn’t have been more pleasantly surprised by the majestic beauty and history before us!

A day in Bologna!

Kevin met me in Bologna after my trip to Rome and I think it’s safe to say that climbing the big tower is not in my future, after spry Kevin swore that he would never do that again!

Rome in the Rain

In our first two months in Italy we’ve had almost no rain, so the intermittent showers and even thunderstorms I experienced in Rome were a welcome change, despite the fact that we dashed from sight to sight between downpours.  The cloudy sky created terrific light effects as we took a panoramic guided bus tour of the hills and ancient sights of Rome.

My Love of Michelangelo!

Here’s a common ice breaker question: If you could have dinner with an historical figure from the past, whom would you pick? For me, besides Jesus (I know, might be a bit ‘churchy’ for some of you…), it would be Michelangelo.

The ancient seaport town of Ostia Antica

The greatest part of living in Italy for 2 years is that we can take the road less traveled, such as a visit to Ostia Antica, a large archaeological site that was once ancient Rome’s seaport and one of the most thriving cities in the region.

Under the Tuscan Sun, with 68 Middle School Students

Ciao a tutti.  This is Kevin with an update on my first Italian field trip to Tuscany.

Leisure in Lugano!

What a treat to hop on a train in Milan and an hour later arrive in a different country! We will be visiting Switzerland often, I predict!

The Magic of Venice!

I believe the last time I was in Venice was the summer of 1976 and unfortunately my memory includes the stank smell of stagnant canal water and not much else.  I have not returned and I didn’t think I was missing much.  How wrong I was!
